Bibliografia do artigo "Dermatite das almofadas plantares em frangos de engorda em explorações da região Oeste de Portugal"

A dermatite das almofadas plantares (DAP) consiste numa lesão cutânea localizada nas almofadas plantares das aves, que se forma pelo contacto e consequente irritação das almofadas plantares devido a camas em más condições (Dunlop et al., 2016), ocorrendo inflamação e necrose dos tecidos (Shepherd e Fairchild, 2010).

Trata-se de uma doença multifatorial com possível origem em fatores genéticos, ambientais, nutricionais e de maneio – com relevância destacada para os materiais utilizados nas camas (Nagaraj et al., 2007; Shepherd e Fairchild, 2010). A frequência e a gravidade da doença refletem a qualidade do ar e da cama durante o ciclo produtivo e esta doença pode ser também um indicador de bem-estar animal (BEA) (Haslam et al., 2006).
